Deal livejournal land,
Magdellin is a mocasin :D
She can not be trusted around cheescake mix.
Also, if she wins this baking contest I demand credit :P
kind of a shame my first post in ages is fairly uninteresting and only made because I've had a glass of wine and my usual internet haunts are not providing distraction.
Woo yay! Bye!

1. Jasper kitten is staying with me forever because I love him - yay foster failure!
2. Boo doesn't suck at lure coursing, my totally-not-a-sight-hound/pretty-boy-lap-dog is a mighty hunter :P (ok I am being effusive with my praise - he did one run, one PUPPY run short course but he did SO well and I am really proud!)
3. Kai has finally brought homework home, and it's all increadibly boring.
4. I want to know if anyone I know has a third nipple! TELL ME!

everyone should be well aware of the current fires and the mounting death toll across parts of the country.
Truly horrific stuff, and at such a time it is beholden on everyone to rally round and do what we can to help.
You may have heard of MDBA (Master Dog Breeders & Associates) but it is a wonderful registered non-profit organisation, commited to educating and upholding the best of ethics across the board of dog ownership from breeders, to pet owners, to dog trainers and rescuers. I'm a proud member.
MDBA have an emergency aid fund open to anyone who needs help to care for their animals in an emergency and at this time donations are particularly needed and urgent as many owners are in dire straights, either having lost their homes or having been evacuated or stuck on roads or properties unable to get out at present.
Aid goes to anyone who is a dog owner and needs help. Being a member isnt a requirement nor does it get you preferential treatment.
Bank details are Commonwealth Bank bsb 064418 account number 10176490
Overseas donations and credit card to pay pal. info@mdba.net.au
If you wish to post a money order or are in the area and can donate animal care items or anything you think may help there is an established drop off point at: MDBA 5 Staley St California Gully 3556
You can call Steve on 0269276707 if you run into any difficulties.
My sincere thanks to any and all who can help.

dog park today contained an overwhelming number of lovely dogs. But (oh squeally joy) Charlie the Great Dane was there with his new puppy friend, a 3 month old Great Dane pup, Banjo!
Granted Charlie is still a puppy at 8 months, but being a Dane he's huge, so it was awesome to meet such a little (twice the size of Boo) puppy :P
His feet were humungous <3
Next weekend I'm heading off to another dog show, going to try and be organised and pack a picnic this time. Really looking forward to it!
We've started plotting about what kind of car to get to make it easier to A. Transport a Great Dane and B. transport all the stuff we'll need to take to shows :P
I can't wait to get my pup and start going to show training, and enter shows!
We are thinking it could be fun to get a campervan so we can do weekend camping trips to out of town shows.
All day dreams at the moment, but so pleasant :)

IS anyone flying to Canberra or Sydney in the next week?
A rescue in Canberra rehomed a lovely little staffy girl and her new owners moved to QLD and she's wound up in the pound. She's been sprung and is with a SAPD foster carer at the moment and needs to get back to Canberra or Sydney. You can help by taking this girl as part of your baggage allowance (which is free) which saves nearly $200 on transport fee's for the rescue group.
It's a very simple process and we'd be there to guide you through the check in and see she gets where she needs to be pre-flight.

Heading off for a pound trip again early next week, If anyone is interested in fostering one or two kittens it would be most appreciated.
All vet work and flea/worm treatment is covered by the rescue, food also supplied if needed.
I have two XXL Great Dane sized metal cage style crates that would do well as kitty safe zones if containment presents an issue.

Little Max went on trial today in a new home. Wonderful lady, wonderful house/yard to explore, a dear 8yo maltese named Zac who matches his personality fantasticly and a cute ragdoll X kitty named "Mr. Poo" LOL
It's fantastic, just fantastic - a month go he was a skinny, flea covered, bald bummed little dawg looking forlorn in a cage at the pound.
Words cannot describe how good it feels to know he's now healthy, happy and (fingers crossed) in his forever home.

week from hell this week but things seem to have settled down!
This is Max http://www.petrescue.com.au/view/35683 my current foster who has been with us for a couple of weeks. He was a stray, horribly thin and had more fleas on him than I've ever seen on one dog o_0 Now he's putting most of the weight back on and is flea free and a much happier little guy. He lost a lot of hair around his tail and back legs from flea allergy dermatitus but it's starting to grow back now :) I *love* him, but it may take a while to rehome him as he's around 6, has an undershot jaw which makes him look like an adorable Womble and still needs his pants to grow back :D Someone must have loved him once as he has been well socialised, is house trained and very sweet and affectionate. If I wasn't determined to get a Great Dane pup I would keep him, he's a dear wee gentleman and just the sweetest little soul!
Today Sue and I went all the freaking way to the Gold Coast to join the Cavalier Rescue Group's christmas BBQ :P I won a raffle and Boo won prizes for Best Trick (sit, drop, offleash stay and come followed by dancing, all under heavy distraction *boast boast* I am suitably proud of my clever boy) and also second place Most Fashionable with Harvey, Sue's Chihuahua, both dressed as matching Christmas Angels :D
The weekends has been non stop busy for weeks now and it only gets more so with Christmas coming up. Lots of fun stuff happening!

[28 Oct 2008|10:35am] |
I bought a dress, it's very odd (not the dress, the fact that I bought it) I own a couple but they are all part of clubbing outfits, not something to wear minus a corset around the house so it's very strange to be wearing a dress.
It's just a black and white patterned cotton thing which is very comfy and cool. I have vague recollections of swanning about in summer in mostly PVC, stuffed if I know how I didn't expire in the heat but I can't see myself doing it now. Comfort for the win!
I've more than half outgrown the black hair dye now, it looks awful half brown half black but god I can't wait till all the black is gone and I can let a hairdresser do a proper funky dye and stylecut job from scratch, while I sit in a chair and enjoy knowing I don't have to lift a finger, my hair isn't going to break off at the ends and I don't have to worry about accidently bleaching the towels :P
I went to a dog show on the weekend trying to figure out if I'd like to show with our future Great Dane pup or not. Aside from the heat it was really fun but increadibly confusing, the kind of event where it's assumed everybody knows what is going on and where everything is :D but we knew a few people there and people were really helpful :)
Kai was wilting in the heat but we discovered snowcones on the way out and he perked right up :D

The boys have just left after deciding, at the last minute, to go see the Chihuahua movie together *grin* given I've already seen it, I'm staying home with the pets and having an enjoyable night of not much in particular and laundry :D
It's funny, I've had a few conversations with people recently when I've said "I haven't been going out to clubs/parties much. I've been going out lots doing other things" and no one seems to hear the second half of what I've said - they asume I'm being a hermit and respond with something consoling 0_o I don't get it!
I wish there were not so many 8 legged beasties around, but apart from that I am actually not hating this time of year for once. Probably helps that I have given in and bought seasonally apropriate clothing/shoes for the first time ever.
leftover pasta and Bill Bailey DVDs sounds like a good plan for now :)
